New name, new stuff

I mentioned on Twitter the other day that I just made myself a new goal.

Blog everyday, even if it's just to say HI!

I neglected this blog for a while because with life changes comes blog changes. I started a new blog. This one was more personal. It was about my new life as a truckers wife. A truckers wife with 3 kids at home trying to used to their daddy being gone for 6 weeks at a time. Compelling stuff I tell ya.

My life suddenly went from organized couponer with a rock solid budget to a frazzled wife trying to keep it together in my day to day life. My life, in essence, took a complete 180.

I considered abandoning this blog and just keeping my other one since I wasn't really doing any heavy duty shopping. Chris was always the one to go get the papers on Sunday while I cooked breakfast. Sunday afternoons were spent playing with the kids while I matched, clipped and sorted the coupons. Now I just get a paper if I remember or I'll print out the occasional coupon from online.

I don't have a budget anymore. I don't know from one week to the other how much Chris will make. I actually just reinstalled some budgeting software last night in hopes to at least track where our money is going. We essentially have two households here. One at home and one on the road. Keeping track of expenses takes time and I have just been too lazy busy to do it.

The thought of putting my personal rant of being a truckers wife kinda worried me.

I ranted.

I complained.

I said thing I wouldn't normally say on my serious, budgeting blog.

I needed to get things off my chest and without anyone to talk to, the blog was my catch all.

I started thinking that maybe I should just start a new blog. A random, catchall blog that really had no meaning.

But after realizing how much work it would be to start all over much consideration, I decided to keep this blog and just transfer my other blog posts here. Hence the new look and name.

This will now be my place to share my real life. Both sides of me that were once separated online.

I may come across as negative. I really don't care. When your life does a back flip and suddenly your husband is gone for 6 weeks at a time and you have 3 kids to take care of on a wage so low that it would make your head spin, THEN you will see why I am the way I am.

I don't love the situation we are in at the moment, but aren't in this for the moment. We are in this for the long run. It will get better, but right now, I am just keeping it real.

And sometimes, real... sucks big time.

Well it's done

I put my 11 year old back into public school. I didn't want to do it. But I had to. For my own sanity and for hers.

It's not that we don't get along. We do for the most part. But for someone who never gets a break from their kids for months at a time, I needed the break! She needed the break. The break that public school gives each of us. I get a break from her, she gets a break from me and her sisters. Win-win.

Do I feel guilt? You betcha!

I feel a HUGE amount of guilt. I always do when I feel like I am giving in or quitting.

Update on the "garden"

It's dead. That is all.

No really. I killed it.

I have NO idea what happened this year but man, I done killed the garden.

Remember how green and promising everything looked? Yeah well, it's brown now. And DEAD!

The end.

Update

Well Chris found out to day that he will be going to an orientation on the 2nd of August. That's good news! It's actually with the company that he wanted to go with originally but they were so overbooked with new drivers, the wait time was over 3 months. We just couldn't wait that long.

So a bit of good news today from me!

We are enjoying having him home. We haven't done a thing! My van is still at the collision center getting fixed. Going on 2 weeks now and it's supposed to be even longer! Good thing we got a rental. :)

Have a fabulous weekend and God bless!!

Nervous and relieved

I shared on Twitter the other day that Chris lost his job. So here we are. Back at square one.

He was let go Thursday morning and he still isn't home. They are keeping him on the truck for as long as possible because his co-driver isn't experienced enough to drive alone. Oh and he isn't getting paid. Yeah. I am NOT a happy camper right now.

He is in VA at the moment on his way to Nashville. I will probably go either tonight or tomorrow and get him off the truck. I just want him to get a little close to home first.

I am still in shock. Confused about what to do.

But you know what else I am? Relieved. Excited.

I can't wait to see my husband. I can't wait for the kids to see their Dad. I can't wait to do all the things that we have no been able to do since he has been gone. 6 months is a long time to be away from your family. Even though he wasn't gone for a continuous 6 months, it sure seemed like it. 5 days here and 6 days there goes by too quickly.

So there ya have it. Prayers for our family will be most appreciated. I am 100% certain that this is Gods will. Another opportunity will arise, and it will be bigger and better than the previous one.

Proverbs 3

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

New year... new post

So I guess this whole blog crash couldn't have happened at a better time. Really. Think about it. It was the end of the year. It was cluttered.

I get to start over. Brand new.

I plan on using it to my advantage.

I made a resolution this year to be more positive. I don't like reading blogs that aren't happy and I'm sure you don't either. :)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Blog!

Happy New ME!

2 weeks from today

Chris put in his 2 weeks notice yesterday. In his resignation letter he stated his last day would be the 28th of November. Since he happens to be off that day, his last real working day will be the day after Thanksgiving.

I couldn’t be more happy, scared, nervous, excited….

There are a whole mix of emotions going on right now and I am having a hard time turning this completely over to God.

Although I am 100% certain this is His will.

Chris will be going in a totally different direction in his career. He will not be home very often and we will miss him. This will be hard but our family will benefit in the long run.

Please pray for us as a family.

It was only a matter of time

Chris got news last week that his job will end. At least we have about 2 months to figure things out.

In other, better news….

More blog posts to come today.

It’s a special day here. :)
